“I have known Martin for several years now and strongly support his application to stand for Labour in Edinburgh North Western.
He has already contributed greatly to the party, and he will make an able and diligent MSP.
George Foulkes Former Lothian MSP and Councillor for Sighthill
Lets win Edinburgh North Western in 2026
I grew up in Edinburgh and I am a community councillor in the West End. I first joined the Labour party at university in 2001. I worked in the NHS for five years and then spent 15 years living and working abroad, setting up several successful businesses.
Returning to Edinburgh with my family four years ago, I have been an active Labour party member and tireless campaigner across the city. I built the Edinburgh Labour website and have led and participated in many campaigns across Edinburgh and Fife. I am involved with several charities, primarily focused on environmental issues, and I was one of the co-founders of the Save Gorgie Farm campaign in 2022.
In Scotland, after 14 years of Tory rule at Westminster and 18 years of the SNP in Holyrood, our public services are under threat, our economy is not performing, and our people are increasingly despondent. Growing up on a council estate in the south of the city, I have benefitted from opportunities in life resulting from free education, healthcare and social housing. I am dedicated to ensuring future generations have the same opportunities that I did, living in a strong and prosperous society with a system of government that provides for the many and not just a few.
I can think of no better way to do this and serve my community than being elected as the first Labour MSP for Edinburgh North Western.

“No social system will bring us happiness, health and prosperity unless it is inspired by something greater than materialism.”
— Clement Atlee
